Installation of this 9 foot tall fountain was finished in August 1996. It is built of 92 pieces of stone, and the carving was completed over a 10 month period.
Carved from two types of limestone, Indiana Limestone and a golden brown Minnesota limestone, two bronze frogs sit on the edge of the pool spouting water. Water shoots out the top, cascades down, and flows from the mouths of the three lions. It is situated in the garden of the same Chicago mansion where the Sullivanesque fireplace shown on my fireplace page. |

The central part of the fountain features a lion; water spouts from its mouth. On the bowl above its head rests a bundle of four Romanesque columns, topped by another bowl.
This fountain is located in the gardens of Driehaus Capital Management at 25 E. Erie St.; if you're visiting Chicago, walk by and take a look! |

And here is a model of the fountain in VRML format. It's only 25k, so give it a whirl!

This stone entry is more than 13 feet (4 meters) tall and 11 feet wide. It is constructed from 50 pieces of Indiana limestone, and was installed in December, 1995, at St. Ignatius High School in Chicago. This 100 year old building has just been renovated. The school campus has changed greatly over the years, and what was originally the back of this building is now the front, facing a landscaped courtyard. Therefore, a new entry was required, one which would be in keeping with the design of the school. The entry is framed by a restored wrought iron porch, which was salvaged from an old asylum in Elgin, Illinois. The carvings at the upper corners represent a student from the 1890's and one from the 1990's.

Here is the St. Ignatius doorway as a VRML model. Since this doorway has 50 pieces of stone, assembled with 1/4 inch joints, the 3D
modeling helped me to get all the dimensions and alignment accurate. Like the fountain model, I designed it in upFront, and converted it to VRML using TriSpectives. This model is only 16k.
