There are many rooms that call for a simple, clean, mantel design. What makes Walter's fireplaces stand out over others is that his are never mass-produced. Even his most basic fireplace designs are carefully tailored to the particular client's vision of the room they are creating. After design consultations to determine the perfect type and color of stone for the project, Walter personally selects the stone. He works with various American and Eurpoean limestones. His marble almost exclusively comes from Italy, unless the client has a special request. Walter's fireplaces can not be compared with mass-produced factory fireplaces, many of which are made of "cast stone"—a type of cast cement that can be produced in large, one-size-fits-all quantities.
